The German Olympic Commemorative Medal was awarded to both Germans and foreign nationals who worked to produce the 1936 Berlin Olympic Games. The award was not given to athletic participants, but rather to those who organized and operated the games. Authorized by Hitler on July 31, 1936, there were 54,915 of these medals awarded. The obverse features a pylon supporting the Olympic rings logo, fronted by the German state eagle and swastika, with the date 1936. The reverse has the legend, in German, “For Meritorious Cooperation in the Olympic Games 1936.” Our high-quality reproduction of this medal has a silver oxide finish and excellent details. The medallion measures an inch-and-a-half in diameter, and has a ring suspension.
The medal comes complete with a length of the correct red, white and black ribbon.
